Southeastern Esthetics Institute received $60,639 from the Department of Education pursuant to the submission of the “Recipient’s Funding Certification and Agreement Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students" under the CARES Act, and as of December 31, 2020 has distributed this amount to 77 eligible students. |

The following methodology was used to determine eligibility and distribution tiers for the Emergency Financial Aid Grants under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.
The following information was emailed to students on May 11, 2020 via SMART email messaging:
Good Morning Students,
I am happy to announce that Southeastern Esthetics Institute is in the process of receiving our CARES Act funds which will be paid out to you, the student! We do not have a set date for receiving the funding, but we expect it to come through within 5-10 business days from today.
Please see the information below outlining our new policy for receiving and distributing CARES Act funds. If you are a current student enrolled in our Esthetics Licensure Course (Advanced Esthetics Academy does not qualify) we strongly recommend completing a FAFSA application if you have not already done so to start the eligibility process. Eligibility requirements must be met by the day Southeastern Esthetics Institute receives the CARES Act funds as checks will be issued within 24 hours of receipt.
Student Funding
The following procedure will be followed to allocate emergency grant funds to the student through phase one of the funding process:
1. For a student to be eligible for the emergency funds, the student MUST:
a. Be enrolled in the Esthetics Licensure Course (Title IV Eligible Program)
i. If the student is enrolled, but has not started the program they are not eligible for the grant as some enrolled students may not actually attend the program.
ii. The institution will use the funds to provide the most relief possible for active students with the highest level of need in the Esthetics Licensure Course who have been impacted the most by COVID-19.
b. Complete a FAFSA application; or meet the following eligibility requirements in the case where the student did not complete a FAFSA but were otherwise “eligible to file a FAFSA”
i. US Citizen or Eligible Non-Citizen
ii. Valid Social Security Number
iii. Registration with Selective Service for male students
iv. High School Diploma, GED or Homeschool Credential
c. If the student meets the eligibility requirements in section 1b. i-iv, the institution still requires the student to complete a FAFSA application for further review.
d. Student must be in compliance with all SAP requirements for the program as outlined by the institution in their student handbook.
2. The student is required to use the grant funds to cover expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to the coronavirus, such as:
i. Food
ii. Course Materials (computers, laptops, phones, online training devices needed to continue class)
iii. Health Care
iv. Housing
v. Technology
vi. Child Care
3. The institution will not use these funds to pay outstanding or overdue student invoices or institutional charges on the student’s account balance
4. The institution will not post payments to the student’s invoice upon receipt of the funds as is done with Pell Grants and Direct Loans under the Financial Aid program for the Esthetics Licensure Course.

- Tier 1 – Students receiving financial aid only for their program costs that are identified with the most need based on receiving full Pell assistance
- Amount Received Equivalent to Equal Distribution of Funds Across Eligible Students Plus 5.5%: $841.77
- Tier 2 – Students receiving financial aid only for their program costs that are identified with the second most need based on receiving direct loans only (no Pell assistance)
- Amount Received Equivalent to Equal Distribution of Funds Across Eligible Students Less 10%: $718.09
- Tier 3 – Students receiving financial aid and VA tuition benefits through either VRE, Chapter 33 or Chapter 35 that are identified with the third most need based on their total tuition assistance percentage against their COA which is highest among this student population
- Amount Received Equivalent to Equal Distribution of Funds Across Eligible Students Less 20% of Tier 2: $574.47
- Tier 1 – Students receiving financial aid only for their program costs that are identified with the most need based on receiving full Pell assistance
