INSTRUCTIONAL FACILITIES, CHARACTERISTICS & GOVERNING AGENCIES

The primary purpose of the Programs at SEHWI is to train the student in the manipulative skills of safety and judgment, proper work habits, and desirable attitudes necessary to achieve competency in the field of wellness, beauty, and health sciences - as well as obtain licensure & gainful employment.

Southeastern Health & Wellness Institute began its initial program, the Esthetics Licensure Course, in June 2012, upon approval and licensing through the South Carolina LLR Board of Cosmetology. Southeastern Health & Wellness Institute maintains a surety bond that is updated annually, as a strict requirement of all cosmetology institutions - in addition to obtaining continued licensure as a licensed Cosmetology School in the state of South Carolina. Southeastern Health & Wellness Institute is approved through the SC LLR Board of Cosmetology to teach the Cosmetology, Esthetics, and Nail Technology Programs. Southeastern Health & Wellness Institute also provides a nationally accredited Advanced Esthetics Academy, overseen by on-site Physicians. Southeastern Health & Wellness Institute is also licensed through the South Carolina Commission Higher Education and maintains a surety bond for this governing entity that is additionally updated annually. The SC CHE oversees the Massage Therapy and Clinical Medical Assistant Program at SEHWI. Southeastern Health & Wellness Institute remains in good standing with all requirements put forth by its state board regulatory agencies.

Southeastern Health & Wellness Institute was initially opened in June 2012 in Sumter, South Carolina within a 1500 square foot facility, honoring a student body of six highly motivated individuals committed to esthetics excellence. All classes held in the Sumter location were operated one at a time, ensuring all students had one-on-one attention with their instructor in a modern learning environment. Southeastern Health & Wellness Institute graduated its first group of students in September 2012. 

Southeastern Health & Wellness Institute closed on the sale of the 148,000 square foot facility at 501 Spears Creek Church Road in October 2023, boasting over 1000 parking spaces, a full kitchen and cafeteria, a 29 acre property, and multiple classrooms and spaces conducive for a modern learning environment. Students cheer each other on while also maintaining their cohesive unit within their tier levels at SEHWI. Through education excellence and individualized attention, students are encouraged to grow as both individuals and highly skilled professionals. The instructors are able to maintain a direct connection with each student individually, a trait that is exceptionally important and one that is held close to the heart of Southeastern Health & Wellness Institute.

Southeastern Health & Wellness Institute is a Non-Public Post-Secondary training institution and privately owned as an LLC, filing as an S-Corporation. 

Southeastern Health & Wellness Institute operates as an S-Corp legal entity in the United States, with several full-time Licensed Esthetics Instructors, Licensed Cosmetology Instructors, Massage Supervisors, Medical Assistant Instructors,and Administrators in full force. Southeastern Health & Wellness Institute additionally utilizes an academic calendar of July 1-June 30. The programs at SEHWI are currently clock hour programs consisting of both traditional lecture and hands-on lab requirements.
